Dang it!

I had a post 3/4 done. Typed out on my iPhone (small keyboard, not ideal typing). The draft was deleted when the app updated. Dang it!

Crazy hair day

Almost ready for the big day tomorrow.

Too much detergent

The scoop on the right is the one that came with the detergent. It's hard to see in the picture but line one is near the bottom. It's also equal to 1/8 of a cup or two tablespoons. A full scoop measures at one cup. How much detergent do you think my children use? A full scoop. How much do you think it needs? Line one. I found the scoop on the left after looking in three different stores. It's a coffee measure, happens to be 1/8 of a cup. Now my children can do laundry and we might actually get 185 loads out of the box of detergent.

Whole wheat bread

6 cups whole wheat flour
2 Tbls yeast
4 cups hot water

Mix yeast with flour in Bosch. Add water mix 30 sec, scrape sides of bowl mix another 30 sec. Let sit 15 min

Add
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup softened butter
1 Tbls salt
Turn on mixer and add 4-5 cups whole wheat flour

Mix in Bosch 5 min. Let rise in bowl 15 min. Divide into 4 pieces. Roll out thin on buttered countertop. Roll up and tuck ends to shape into loaves. Let rise. Bake 350.

I NEED TOILETPAPER

Names have been omitted to protect the innocent.

Child one yells from the bathroom, "I NEED TOILETPAPER!"

Yells repeatedly.

Dad reminds child two and three that they need to help.

Child two and three get a roll of toilet paper and start to tear off squares and push them under the bathroom door, giggling.

Child one yells, "I can't reach it."

Time for a new look

I just realized the family picture up there is woefully out of date. I think it's three years old. My babies look like babies. Blog redo coming soon.

It's crowded

While cleaning out the gross tank we moved everything to the clean tank. And then the gross tank broke. So all 43 fish are together in a 30 gallon tank. I'm sure there are people out there horrified by those numbers. But no one has died, yet. Surprisingly there hasn't even been any aggression displayed.

So slow

Dad said "You're slower than molasses on a cold day."

Dana asked, "Who is molasses?"

Something went horribly wrong

Last night the tank started looking slightly cloudy. This morning it looked like this. Yes, the fish are still alive. And yes, this tank will be getting some TLC this evening.

It's NOT a game!

Emma stayed home from school today sick. During lunch Derrick is explaining to Emma what you do with a wishbone and how the person with the largest side gets to make a wish. Emma says, "That sounds like a fun game." Derrick is disgusted, "It's not a game." He proceeds to explain in detail, again, about the wishes. Emma says, "Yeah, that sounds like a fun game." Derrick sighs, "It's NOT a game! First you chew the chicken, then you get the wishbone, then..."

Lentil Stew - in pressure cooker

Made this in the pressure cooker tonight. It was done before the frozen pizzas were. (I didn't feel like forcing all the children to have soup tonight.) I loved it.

1 cup lentils
3 cups beef broth

Cook at high pressure about 8 mins.

While that cooks chop
1 onion
2 large red potatoes (unpeeled)
1 package beef kielbasa
2 cloves garlic

After 8 min at high pressure, lower pressure quickly and add what you chopped. Also add
1 tsp dried basil
Black pepper to taste

Add more water if needed, just to cover everything. Cook 1 more minute at high pressure. Let pressure drop naturally this time.
